Synopsis Long
Your life may be the only Bible someone else reads. When actions speak louder than words, will they be enough to save someone?
Since grade school, two teenage girls’ lives have been intertwined whether they like it or not. And mostly they don’t. Claire and Moriah share everything from teachers to a passion for dance, but there is one thing that Moriah won’t share─Nick Huntley.
Steadfast focuses on the lives of six teenagers as they train for upcoming championships. Even though Moriah and Claire attend the same school, Moriah dances for a Christian dance company so the two girls are competitors. While trying to concentrate on school and their respective sports, the classmates struggle with issues relevant to the average youth today: bullying, purity, eating disorders, abuse, cutting, suicide, substance abuse, and other trials.
Claire’s family dynamics include alcoholic parents: a father who physically and verbally abuses her, and a mother who doesn’t have the strength to help her. Claire, in turn, bullies Moriah, a strong Christian who tries to reach out to Claire despite her cruelty.
Moriah and her sister, Lydia, lost their father due to illness several years ago and are being raised by their mother in a loving Christian home. Moriah is the strong character in the movie and tries to lead by example, even though she faces weak moments at times. Lydia, however, battles the inner demons of low self-esteem which cultivate into an eating disorder while being bullied by her thin, jealous swim teammates.
Her best friend, Jesse, is also bullied. His mother was killed by a drunk driver, and the teen brother of the driver illogically blames Jesse for his brother being incarcerated. Jesse’s father copes with his wife’s death by becoming a workaholic and completely ignoring Jesse. Deeply scarred by the loss of his mother, the rejection of his father, the incessant bullying by Brady and his gang, and not knowing the love of Christ, Jesse is overcome by hopelessness.
Nick, on the other hand, has an overbearing father who pays too much attention to him. Nick can never do enough to please his egotistical dad. Abby’s parents fight constantly and are on the verge of divorce, driving Abby to release the pain building up inside her the only way she knows how.
An unexpected tragedy changes the playing field and tests their endurance even more. Who will remain steadfast?
While Steadfast deals with serious issues, there are still moments of lightness, laughter, and dance. The movie also features an inspiring soundtrack from recording artists such as Livingsong, Still Water, Common Ground, Derek Triplett, Courtney Raley, and Honey Swihart, as well as original music written for the movie and performed by up-and-coming artists. Steadfast imparts to youth and parents alike a much-needed message of hope, along with the realization that they are not alone in their struggles.

Bullying, cutting, substance abuse and so many other issues that this film addresses are rampant in our culture right now. Our goal is to help youth and their parents constructively deal with these problems through an avenue that reaches them—media. Along with the movie, a youth and a parent study guide based on the film is available. Steadfast Teens and Steadfast Parents may be used for group or independent study.
There are nine sessions that cover the following topics: bullying; bullying and the bystander; purity; eating disorders; substance abuse; cutting; physical, emotional, and sexual abuse; suicide; and witnessing. Videos with pertinent clips from the movie, along with real-life testimonies, handouts, and music from the film are included with each study. Two powerful devotionals, Steadfast Teens Devotional and Prayer Journal and Steadfast Parents Devotional and Prayer Journal, provide further instruction, teaching to speak God’s Word for every situation and to believe His promises. The use of the study guides and devotionals is where the true application lies and where we can impact the lives of youth and parents the most.
